Botanical Posters from Indonesia
Posters showing the various specimens of Symplocos, a species essential to the red dye process used by Indonesian weavers. Few people have ever seen the bush as they buy the bark and leaves and it only exists in small remaining remnant forests. The posters, developed by PPI Steering Committee member, Tony Cunningham, and Indonesian partners Yayasan Pecinta Budaya Bebali and Threads of Life, were distributed to weaving communities (14 language groups on 7 islands in eastern Indonesia), resulting in a new transfer of knowledge.
